two zero one six – portraits

So I know everyone was saying what a horrible year 2016 was.  It was for some.  But not everyone.  I had a great year.  I started to count how many newborns, babies, children and families I have shot.  But there are so many I lost count so many times.  If I was to just put them under the family category, which most of them end up being, then I have shot over 120 families in 2016.  I think it is closer to 150 but I need time to reorganise my hard drive and file them all correctly.  Not to mention working with some awesome businesses like Boss Bibs, Twinkle Rugs, Covered Magazine (had the front cover for the spring issue), and so many head shots for some pretty awesome people.

I also won a few awards for my work with AIPP’s in New South Wales.  Which I was so thrilled about.

I also shot 12 weddings, a lot less than I am used to but this is by choice as I love the newborns and families and prefer to be closer to home as my family requires me to around more.

I travelled to Scotland and England where I shot two weddings and so many families that were my clients from when we lived there.  Which is wonderful to do and catch up with everyone again.

I achieved so much and have so much to be grateful for.  I discovered I had a tumour after feeling really unwell and exhausted.  After a number of tests we found a tumour on a parathyroid.  It was big enough and serious enough that I have it removed in October.  I still can’t believe how I got on with it all knowing now how ill I was.  I am feeling incredible and once it was removed we got the amazing news it wasn’t cancer!!!  I dodged a bullet.  I felt like I was given a 2nd chance.  I am now full of energy and ready to take on 2017.  It has started off amazingly with a trip up the Queensland coast. We got home yesterday and I have my first shoot tomorrow for the year.

Hope the year is fabulous to you and I hope to see so many of you again this year for more new babies arriving and families looking for memories to give the children for when they get older!  Thanks to all who were a part of my 2016…
