Longreef Wedding | Sydney | Katie & Trent

It was the day before Christmas Eve and I headed down to Sydney for my final wedding of 2017.  It was one of the hottest days to get married on.  But Katie & Trent didn’t stop smiling all day.  The wedding was stunning, with all the details, the dress, the veil, the cake, styling at Longreef Gold Club.  The wind was crazy which although strong was quite welcome and made the heat bearable.  But of course it makes pretty pictures when there is a veil involved.  I love the venue Longreef Golf Club   It ticks all the boxes for a great wedding venue and the staff are always fabulous!  I look forward to the next time I can go back! x

Noosa Wedding | Bianca & Derek

Want to get married somewhere amazing then have a wedding in Noosa.  Although sometimes on the Sunshine Coast the sun doesn’t always shine…yes it is quite shocking when it is called The Sunny Coast.  So when you are like Bianca & Derek and your beach wedding gets moved indoors due to the relentless rain there’s not much you can do except smile.  Which is exactly what the fun loving Bianca did.  As she said at the end of the day she is marrying her best friend and the weather doesn’t change that!  So I guess that is why luck was on our side when we headed out for photos, the rain stopped and as is by magic the sun made an appearance for 30 minutes!  It was pretty perfect.  So was their reception which was held at the beautiful Sails Restaurant  right on Noosa Main Beach.  The perfect day for the perfect couple! x

Dress was by Karen Willis Holmes. Derek’s suit was custom made by Wil Valor.  Videographer was Fisheye studio.

Maleny Manor Wedding | Sam & Bec

Maleny Manor on the Sunshine Coast is a pretty spectacular place to get married.  Not only is it in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland but it is also close to the fabulous One Tree Hill.  This is where the beautiful Sam & Bec chose to get married.  They won a competition over on The Bride’s Tree to win their photography by me.  I couldn’t resist picking them and their choice of wedding venue.  It was my first time there and it didn’t disappoint.  I hope to be back for many more in the future!

Dress by Lilian West , Hair by Rolling Scissors.  Flowers by Mono Floral Design.  Make-up by Louise Henzel.  Celebrant was Brooke Carlyon Ceremonies.

GIVEAWAY GIVEAWAY GIVEAWAY!!!

Sadly the start of this year was pretty hideous for my family & I when we lost our amazing Mum.  She was a total legend, my biggest fan and the first person to put me back into line when she thought I was wrong.  We had a short time to come to terms with the fact she had cancer which had spread from her ovaries and into her brain.  I guess if there was any good to come out of it – we got a chance to say good-bye.  We said I love you and be together as a family one last time.  We lost our Dad suddenly 9 year before so this was another heartache for us all to endure.  Mum passed away peacefully and I was lucky enough to be there when she did.  I still can’t believe she has gone.

So fast forward a month to today and I am struggling to find the motivation to get back into work.  I lost a lot of work over the 5 weeks I was away.  I had to cancel a few weddings and newborns sessions and I worry that the damage might be huge for the rest of the year (I work on word of mouth).  So to kick start my year I thought I would do a giveaway.  My Mum told us to always be kind and to do what you love.  So a giveaway is a combination of both!

I will be giving away not one but two sessions in my Bli Bli studio, which has been done up and looking very fresh and pretty.  The two sessions in the giveaway are a newborn session or a baby or maternity these include the digital files.  All you have to do to be in the running to win is head on over to Instagram, and complete the following:

  1. follow my Instagram account (linzierussophoto)
  2. follow me on facebook (linzierussofacebook)
  3.  upload either an image of your baby OR your favourite image of mine, including the hashtag “#linzierussogiveaway” and a description of why you want to win; and
tag three of your friends in your comments.

The competition closes midnight on the 21st of March 2018.

Small Print
Entries are open those who are currently pregnant or who have a baby less than six months of age.  Newborn sessions are for babies aged 7 – 14 days and only one entry per person permitted.

Asha || 8 month old gorgeous baby girl

Bring me your babies!  I love them, this age especially.  8 months, sitting up with ease, almost crawling if not already started, enjoying life and really beginning to understand you.  The best!

Wild & Daisy

Capturing these little moments is magical for me as a parent.  They grow-up so fast and I am currently going through the panic that my time with my children is rapidly running out.  In a few more years, I won’t be the weekend choice of companionship.  Cuddling up to me on the couch after a day at the beach watching old comedies will be no longer wanted and will be replaced with sleep-overs and going out with friends (or even boyfriends!).

This location has caught my eye many times when out running and as the sun starts to set, I knew it would be perfect to photograph in.  I asked Daisy if she wanted to be my model, she was so enthusiastic and happy to do it.  Which to be honest isn’t always the case!   We came up with the clothing to wear and she has little ideas that she wanted to bring to the shoot too, which was adorable.  I love these times together.  She can be very patient and cute and I have to also be very patient (and cute 😉 ) when she is being so easy going.  Sadly Oscar isn’t so keen to join in.  He was more interested in running around with his catapult and pretending he is in the army.  I am sure if I was to do a shoot with a soldier he would be keen!

Everyone loves to get the newborn photos taken, then when they are babies, or a cake smash, or first year…but we forget how adorable this age group is, not to mention so easy to photograph.  A session like this can be done in 30 minutes.  Please get in touch as I am offering discounted Wild & Free Session.

Baby Milk Bath || Sunshine Coast Photographer

When I went back to Scotland to photograph a wedding and hold two newborn workshops, I was lucky enough to catch up with many families that I have photographed over the years.  I have been photographing this family for 5 years now.  This time I got to meet their newest addition.  Beautiful Poppy.  An absolute delight with eyes that will melt your heart.  I love this family.  We did the milk bath shoot which is now my newest ad

dition to my packages.  Ideal for the babies that have missed the newborn stage.  I supply the flowers and the milk…you bring the baby.  It is fun and the results are pretty gorgeous.  I am very excited to be doing many more of these.

Pia & Tim – Balmain, Sydney Wedding

After 10 years of being together finally Pia & Tim said I do.  The weather had been pretty wet all week, which for most brides is a big disappointment.  But not for Pia, she remained positive and happy despite the grey clouds that were looming.  The ceremony was held in a very quaint little church in the beautiful Balmian and the reception at the fabulous One Ford Street
Luckily the rain held off until way into the night, allowing time for photos with the beautiful city of Sydney as the backdrop.   Pia’s dress was the prettiest I have seen in a long time, quirky and cool yet still elegant and bridal finished off with a gorgeous long veil.  I loved it. Flowers by the very talented Lavande Designs.  The day was so prefect. Even I wanted to do it all over again!
‘Linzie nailed the candid photos brief and captured so many wonderful moments from the evening that we will have forever. She just blended in, was never in anybody’s personal space or pushing formal, staged photos that took us away from our guests. The days leading up to the wedding were the wettest Sydney has had all year and I was pretty worried about the weather- Linzie was so calm and relaxed and reassuring that whatever the day brings it will still be okay!”
  • Bridal gown designer:  Manning Cartell  “My dress was not a ‘proper wedding dress’- I got it from Manning Cartell at The Strand in Sydney. I had done a bit of browsing on the internet and saw it in store one day so tried it on and that was it- decision made. I felt comfortable in it, I felt it could be easily styled and needed only minor alterations to the sleeves. Prior to this, I went to one bridal store (mostly for the novelty!) and hated the entire process- millions of questions, overwhelming and way to bridey for me!! So all up, I probably spent 2 days looking for a dress and that’s it!”
  • Veil:  Tania Maras Bridal
  • Suit: MJ Bale
  • Event planner / Stylist: No planner- self styled by myself and reception styling by Jude The Obscure
  • Florist: Lavande Designs- Rachel is incredible, patient and took her time ensuring she definitely understood what I was after- I had a very specific idea, but was possibly (“definitely”) a bit ‘ecletic’ in my examples!- and that I definitely understood what was achievable. She was understanding of our budget and was very generous. When I saw my flowers for the first time, I was blown away- I couldn’t believe how perfect they were! I got so many compliments on the day and still do! She hand delivered the flowers to each of our get ready addresses and created the most amazing arrangements for the church and reception. I only wish we could have had them forever!
  • Stationery (invites, place cards, favour tags etc): Fine Invitations
  • Ceremony venue: Campbell Street Presbyterian Church, Balmain
  • Reception venue: One Ford Street, Balmain
  • Catering:  One Ford Street, Balmain
  • Cake (and what kind):  Croquembouche from Adriano Zumbo, Balmain

Sunset on the Sunshine Coast || Maternity Session

Life is pretty amazing here in Australia.  Just ask any person who has moved over here from Scotland.  Gone are the long dark winters, low grey skies that never seem to have an end and the cold that goes through to your bones.  So when you come up from Melbourne for a holiday whilst pregnant, the best way to capture these incredible moments would be with a photo shoot.

Looking amazing it made me wish for a third baby.  I know for a fact that I would not look this good.  I am always envious of anyone who gets pregnant and gains little weight.  For me I gained about 24 kilos.  I did love to eat <3

Newborn Unscripted || The Workshop

So for a while now I get asked if I am going to be doing another newborn workshop.  I haven’t yet held them in Sydney but have held them in Scotland. Although it has been a few years now that I have done it.  After being asked again if I would be doing it this year I decided maybe I could fit it into my trip.   I put a mention on Facebook if anyone would be interested and within 24 hours I was shocked that it had sold out.  People asked again if I could hold a second day.  Not sure if I would be able to sell it out, again I put it out there on Facebook.  It sold out!  I am thrilled.

In this workshop I will show you how I hold a session,  with a newborn and parents.  How I settle, pose although I am not the biggest poser (with babies that is, some might say I different about myself), how I shoot, what lenses I use and my camera settings.  I will show how I use the props, and create images that are able to be turned into art.  After the session, and some well deserved lunch I will show how I process from culling, to editing.  I will also discuss how I use social media and tips and tricks in getting your images seen.

If time allows we can head out for dinner and we can just hang out.  I am excited to meet lots of new people.  I would love to hold one in Sydney – if you are interested then please drop me a line!
